Fostering with Retrieving Freedom

Getting our puppies off to the right start to become a service dog is one of the most important stages of our program.

  

𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 (puppy raisers) are dedicated individuals and families who help with the first 8-10 months of the puppy's life and training. They will provide a loving home, public socialization, and begin the basic training process.

  

We are also looking for individuals to 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 service dogs in training who are in Stages 2 and 3 of training. Residing at our facility, these dogs are typically between 1 and 2 years of age, and they venture into weekend foster homes Fridays through Sundays.

We are also looking for individuals to 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 dogs who are in Stages 2 and 3 of training. A dog would stay in the home over the long holiday weekend! They are typically 1-2 years of age and reside at our facility full-time.

  

Experts from Retrieving Freedom will be there to help throughout the entire process with training classes and open communication. Being a foster home will be one of the most rewarding experiences that you and your family will ever be a part of.

Join us Tuesday, April 20 at 6:00PM for our monthly Foster Class in Missouri! This class is open to current fosters and those new to the idea of fostering who are looking to get more information.

If you are looking to learn more about fostering and want to participate in the introductory class, we welcome you to join us on Saturday, April 10 at 8:30AM, where you can then stay and observe current fosters at 10:00AM. This will be a tell-all class, where you'll go over the foster manual and learn about the different kinds of fostering: breeding, full-time, and weekend. Currently, the biggest need at the Iowa location is for breeding and full-time fosters - especially for the summer of 2021!
