Sponsor Announcement

I am honored to be sponsored by the Caesars Foundation and specifically the Isle Casino of Waterloo, Iowa. Their sponsorship gave them the opportunity to name me. I feel "lucky" and thankful to have their support! I hope to make them proud!

Lucky's Journey

Stage 1 Introduction

Hello! My name is Lucky. I am proud to have been selected to enter into the Retrieving Freedom training program. I am from Hero Labradors in Texas. During this stage of training I will be spending approximately 8 months with my new volunteer puppy raiser, Alison.

Throughout Stage 1, I will learn the basics obedience, public behavior, and a lot of socialization. I understand that it takes a very special dog to complete the program as there is a high standard to become a Service Dog. I am aware that I may be one of the dogs whose purpose is outside of service work so I will be updating my profile on a monthly basis for all that would like to follow my journey through the program.

JULY 2021 - 2 MONTHS OLD

Since my transition from my wonderful breeder to Retrieving Freedom, I have been spending time with a temporary volunteer foster home named Sheila. Soon I will be traveling to my new puppy raiser's home where I'll continue working on the basics such as potty training, crate training, walking on a leash, and learning my name!

August 2021 - 3 months old

My fur siblings at home have been showing me the ropes for how to behave appropriately such as what's acceptable to chew on (and NOT chew on!), where to go potty, and to wait patiently for meals. I had my first veterinary appointment and had a clean bill of health!
