RAISE A SERVICE DOG IN TRAINING
Raise Hope. Raise a Hero

Make An Impact, Change A Life
Puppy Raisers give future Service Dogs the foundation they need to succeed. By welcoming a puppy into your home, you help build the obedience, confidence, and social skills that prepare them to serve a Veteran with a disability or a child with autism.
The Need Has Never Been Greater
Demand for Service Dogs continues to rise, and we welcomed 60 new dogs in 2025. Each one needs a stable, loving home before formal training begins. Your commitment helps make life-changing placements possible.

PUPPY FOSTER OPPORTUNITIES
Becoming a Puppy Raiser is one of the most meaningful ways to serve our mission. Many of our volunteers return again and again because of the lasting impact they see. Puppies are typically placed in foster homes around 8 weeks of age, but there are several ways to get involved depending on your schedule and lifestyle.
1
Full Time Fostering
Full Time Foster volunteers care for a puppy starting at 7 weeks old through approximately 12 months of age, or until the dog returns to our facility for formal training. This role focuses on socialization, basic obedience, and building confidence during the most formative months.
2
Weekend Fostering
Weekend Foster volunteers care for a dog in formal training, typically between 12 and 24 months old, from Friday at 5:00 pm to Sunday at 5:00 pm. This gives the dog valuable exposure to home life while continuing their structured training during the week.
3
Teacher Fostering
Teacher Foster volunteers host a dog in formal training for one full school day each week. The day is selected by our training staff. This opportunity provides the dog with exposure to classroom environments and helps build focus and adaptability.
4
Breeding Foster
Breeding Foster volunteers care for a dog selected to help produce future Service Dogs. These dogs are no longer in formal training and are chosen specifically for their temperament and health. Breeding fosters provide a stable, loving home environment while supporting the next generation of Service Dogs.
