Eli and Idexx: The Best Boy Is Right Where He Belongs

We are excited to announce that Sally, Andy, Eli, and Idexx passed their Public Access Test and are officially a placed team!
At Retrieving Freedom, every Service Dog spends a minimum of two years in training, preparing for the moment they meet their partner. For Idexx, that partner is Eli, and this family worked hard for this moment. Already, they have found that having Idexx in their lives has helped in so many ways.
One of the biggest changes has been a decrease in elopement, giving the family greater peace of mind. And the bond between Eli and Idexx is growing every day. The two are already seeking each other out, drawn together the way the very best teams always are.
Idexx has settled right into the rhythms of family life, too. The family goes on evening walks every night, and when it is time for bed, Idexx stays with Eli in his room until he falls asleep. In their words, he is the best boy.
For children with autism, a Service Dog offers safety, calm, and constant companionship. Idexx is doing all of that for Eli, and this partnership is only just beginning.
Every Service Dog for children with autism is placed at no cost to the family, made possible by the generosity of our donors, volunteers, puppy raisers, and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in Idexx's training and helped him become the Service Dog he is today. Placements like this one belong to all of you.
We are beyond proud of Idexx and the change he is making in this family's life, and we cannot wait to watch this team grow.
