Chris and his Veteran Service Dog Loni

ree

In April, Chris and his Service Dog Loni reached an incredible milestone as they successfully passed their Public Access Test and became an official Service Dog team.

From the start, it was clear that Chris and Loni were meant to be together. Loni quickly earned the nickname “little shadow” because he is rarely more than a few steps away from Chris. Their bond grew through shared experiences, trust, and dedication throughout training.

At home, Loni fits right in with the rest of the family, which includes his sister Sophie and a big Maine Coon cat named Simon. The house feels brighter and more complete with Loni now part of their daily lives.

For Chris, having Loni by his side has brought renewed confidence, companionship, and independence. The two enjoy spending time outdoors, and Chris looks forward to taking Loni on future adventures, including visiting nearby waterfalls.

Milestones like Chris and Loni’s represent much more than completing a training program. They mark the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on loyalty, purpose, and trust.

Retrieving Freedom is proud to celebrate Chris and Loni, along with everyone who helped make their placement possible, including volunteers, puppy raisers, trainers, and generous supporters.
