Leah and Hero: A Perfect Match from the Start

Retrieving Freedom is proud to celebrate the successful partnership of Leah and her Service Dog, Hero, who have officially passed their Public Access Test and are now a working team.

From the moment they met at our Missouri facility, it was clear that Leah and Hero shared a special connection. They quickly became inseparable, and that bond has only grown stronger. Hero has truly become Leah’s shadow, staying close by her side and intuitively responding to her needs.

Hero has settled seamlessly into Leah’s family, including forming a sweet friendship with his new canine sister, Maggie. The two are already enjoying life together, with Maggie especially excited to have another pup around for snowy zoomies and playtime.

Leah’s mom, Hannah, has already witnessed the impact Hero is making. She shared that Hero has begun tasking on his own without being prompted, a powerful sign of the strong connection and trust developing between him and Leah. These early moments are a beautiful reflection of the training, dedication, and purpose behind every Service Dog placement.

With Hero by her side, Leah and her family are looking forward to enjoying more of the moments they love. From camping trips to museum visits to everyday errands, Hero is helping make these experiences more comfortable and accessible.

Hannah described Hero in the simplest and most meaningful way:

“Exactly what Leah needs.”

Congratulations to Leah and Hero on becoming an official team.

Their journey together is just beginning, and we cannot wait to see all they accomplish side by side.

Leah and Hero’s story is just one of many waiting to be written.

With your support, more families can experience the freedom, confidence, and connection a Service Dog provides.
