We are excited to announce that William and Itty are officially a placed team!
At Retrieving Freedom, every placement represents years of dedication, training, and love. Itty spent a minimum of two years preparing for this moment, learning the specialized skills that would one day change a child's life. Now, she is right where she belongs, by William's side.
William's parents, Abigail and Ron, say Itty has been a wonderful addition to their home. When she is not hard at work, she is busy playing in the backyard with their three boys, soaking up every moment of family life. But Itty's most important job is being there for William. She provides deep pressure therapy in the times he needs it most, offering calm and comfort when the world feels overwhelming.
For children with autism, a Service Dog can be a steady, reassuring presence. Deep pressure tasks help with sensory regulation and anxiety reduction, giving children like William a tool for navigating difficult moments and a loyal friend who never leaves their side.
The bond between William and Itty continues to grow day by day. Itty has even been riding along with Abigail for drop off and pick up at William's camp, where she has quickly become very popular with everyone there. It is a small glimpse of the way a Service Dog does not just support one child, but brightens an entire community.
Itty's journey to William's side was guided by Service Dog Instructor Macy, whose patience and skill helped shape her into the confident, capable partner she is today.
Every Service Dog for children with autism is placed at no cost to the family, thanks to the generosity of our donors, volunteers, puppy raisers, and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who had a part in helping Itty become the great Service Dog she is today. This placement belongs to all of you.
William and Itty's story is just beginning, and we cannot wait to see where their journey takes them.
